Deputies investigating attempted kidnapping

Orange County deputies are on the look out for three men who tried kidnapping a teenager.   Deputies say a man tried kidnapping the 19-year-old girl, along with two other suspects.  Investigators say it happened at the intersection of Koval Court and Woodruff Drive.

They say the victim was walking home from her friend's house just before 8:30 p.m. on March 10, when an older black Honda, which is low to the ground, drove towards her.    "Three guys tried to pull her into the car," explained George Pondy,  a friend of the victim's parents.  "It bothers me.  I've never had a problem here."

According to deputies, two of the men got out of the car. One of them grabbed her arm and yelled 'Take her!' but the victim was able to break free and run away. "It makes me very mad," said Frank Almonte.  "I lived here 30 years and that never happened. Now started lately."

Almonte says someone recently approached his granddaughter in the same neighborhood. "The guy stopping and touching."  He said he is worried, because there are many children in the area. "School right here, elementary school, middle school. I keep watch in neighborhood."

Deputies say one suspect is in his mid 30s with a bald head and Puerto Rican accent. The second suspect is in his mid 20s and around 5 feet, 7 inches tall, with a short fade haircut.  The third suspect is also in his mid 20s, with a muscular build, a fade hair cut with designs, and short facial hair.

Neighbors said they will be on the look out. "It's disturbing to hear, close to home,"  Pondy said.

A $1,000 reward is being offered. Call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477) with any information.
