Authorities are investigating a shooting in Windermere.

Deputies with the Orange County Sheriff's Office responded to a residence on Bridgewater Crossings [GMap] late Friday evening after receiving a 911 call from a woman inside the home.  When they arrived, they discovered the front door to the residence open and they said they could hear arguing among three people, the woman and two other men.

As the deputies approached, they heard gunshots.  They entered the home to discover a Hispanic woman, approximately 59 years in age, wounded from multiple gunshots.  They ran to the back of the home to find the person believed to have fired the shots, trying to run.

The accused gunman was taken into custody.  His name was not released but he was identified as the 41-year-old biological son of the woman who was shot.  Another man, described as the stepfather, was being questioned about the incident.

The woman was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
