KISSIMMEE, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - A Kissimmee man has bee arrested, accused of murdering his roommate.
Scott Waddell, 45, faces a first-degree murder charge in the death of Nicholas Corvino, 30. Neighbors at Villas at Island Club Condos saw Waddell being taken out just before noon. Deputies first responded to the complex on Britannia Blvd. around 11 a.m., following a report that a burglary alarm had been triggered.
When deputies arrived at a unit in the complex, they discovered Covino dead from a gunshot wound. They said Waddell was the one who answered the door.
"He was very complacent. Kind of a mundane dude and they arrested him, but I didn't know there was a dead body when I saw that," said condo resident Jacob Chamberlain. "They put him in the back of the police car, gave him a bottle of water."
Investigators spent the evening collecting evidence from the unit.
"Nothing led me to believe anything was wrong, until I heard a helicopter and looked out the window and there was 11 cop cars out," Chamberlin explained.
Neighbor Sterling Raphel said he woke up and heard a little bit of commotion.
"Deputies say there was some type of fight that took place, but don't know why," he said.
Neighbors said the two had lived here for about two years. They said the complex is more of a vacation rental place.
"This is a great community. I hope people know it's a great community and this is an isolated incident," Raphel added.
Deputies said Waddell is not cooperating. They want to find out the motive for the shooting. Anyone with information should call the Osceola County Sheriff's Office at 407-348-2222.
