Crowbar flies through window of driver in Daytona

A crowbar flew through a Port Orange man's windshield on Wednesday, and the only thing stopping it from causing serious injury was the steering wheel.

Glass was everywhere, and the driver, who asked not to be named in this story, said it was like "slow motion." He said he was on his way to work and heading north on Interstate 95, when a semi-truck in front of him ran over a crowbar, flipping it up into the air.  Other drivers couldn’t’ believe what they were seeing.

"I saw it flip up and go into this guy’s front windshield, and as I passed the guy, it looked like he was having trouble driving," explained one woman who called 911. "It had smashed his windshield."

He somehow got to the side of the interstate.

"I had one eye open, and I was just trying not to hit any other cars or the guard rail."

The truck is in the shop getting fixed.  He wasn’t hurt.  Now that the shock has worn off, he’s thinking this is his lucky day.

"I think I might play the lottery tonight! Maybe I’ll win and you will be interviewing me for that as well."

The Daytona Beach Fire Department tweeted about the incident earlier.
