Crash leads to fight between men, police say

Cocoa police officers on Tuesday investigated a crash in which two men suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Witnesses said they saw the two men fighting inside a blue vehicle at the U.S. Highway 1 off-ramp of Westbound State Road 528. Simultaneously, calls were being received reporting the car crashed as it headed Southbound on U.S. 1.

One man was seen fleeing the crash into the woods heading west off the highway. The other was on the ground with injuries. He was transported by ambulance to the hospital while officers searched for the other person. A short time later, the second man was located in the area of SR 524 and Industry Road and taken to the hospital for lacerations.

There are reports indicating the two males came from the Merritt Island area where officers received information regarding an alleged carjacking. The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is investigating those reports.
