Citizen helps deputy catch suspect

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is praising a citizen for helping a deputy who was trying to make an arrest.

Investigators say a man and woman were pulled over Wednesday for a traffic stop. They say the man in the car took off running and the deputy chased him on foot.

At one point, body camera video shows a stranger jump out of his truck to help the deputy. His name is Shawn Kelly.

“My instinct took over and just jumped in there and helped him out the best way I could,” said Shawn Kelly.
