Central Florida car wash cleanses more than vehicles

Drive into Sanford's Teen Challenge Car Wash any afternoon and you'll find several young men working very hard. They take great pride in the thorough washes they give, by hand.

"We're the best in town" says Mark Land.

$5 will get you a wash at the Lake Mary Boulevard facility. But that cash gives so much more because Teen Challenge Car Wash is part of something bigger, something more impactful. Every person working here is an addict and the car wash is part of their recovery program.

Men like Mark Land work to earn their place to eat, live and heal at Teen Challenge's Sanford men's center. Land says, “(It was) my last resort. And it’s totally transformed my life. I’m a totally different person now than I was before.”

Teen Challenge Car Wash had a "soft opening" a couple of months ago. Their Grand Opening is Saturday, December 15 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and will include discounts and prizes.

The News Station's Tom Johnson shows you more of how these men are beating addiction and turning their lives around, working at the car wash.
