ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Orange County firefighters on Monday battled a brush fire in the Avalon Park community. Authorities said the fire broke out in a conservation area off of Tamarind Blvd. early in the afternoon. Just after 4 p.m., the fire continued to threaten nearby homes.
While windy conditions provided challenges for firefighters, the fire was under control and about 90 percent contained about an hour later. The cause of the roughly 20-acre fire was not immediately known. Crews will continue to monitor the area in the overnight hours.
