Brevard County community protecting pets from coyotes

After several stray cats disappeared in Brevard County, residents were told to be on alert Thursday evening. Authorities believed coyotes were to blame and warned pet owners to watch out.
In August, Julie Lombarb saw a four-legged creature prowl through her backyard off Gray Road. "It slinked, it was powerful, it looked sinister" said Lombarb, "all I could feel was evil and I've never felt before on anything like that in my life."
Florida Wildlife Trapper, James Dean, set up a camouflaged coyote trap in the West Cocoa neighborhood.
Pet owners were taking precautions, like keeping their pets on a leash, and carrying an air horn to scare off a coyote if one comes close.
