Brevard Co. deputies attacked while responding to couple fighting
MIMS, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Two deputies were injured in Brevard County Tuesday while trying to break up a domestic situation.
Deputy Michael Hriciso and his partner Deputy Marie Skinner were responding to a call on Pineapple Avenue in Mims this morning, when the male suspect, Skylar Francis, 22, got violent.
Investigators say Francis and his girlfriend, Courtney Johnson, 22, were fighting when both deputies stepped in to separate them.
That's when deputies say Francis attacked Deputy Hriciso with a metal, collapseable baton, hitting him in the head multiple times.
His partner, Deputy Skinner, stepped in and was also hit.
Both deputies are expected to be OK, but Deputy Hriciso did suffer head trauma.
Francis faces two counts of attempted murder on a law enforcement officer.
His girlfriend, Courtney Johnson, is facing a charge of resisting arrest.
