Billboard in Longwood sparks religious conversation

- A new billboard created by the American Muslim Community Centers in Longwood is causing a lot of buzz in Seminole County.

The billboard is located near Interstate 4.  It compares three woman from different religions wearing head covers.  Most Muslim women wear a head cover as part of their faith, but some Muslim women say they are harassed for wearing a head covering because people associate the scarf with terrorism.

Leaders from the American Muslim Community Centers want people to know the display is no different than any other religion. "A lot of times people don't think of the similarity of the Muslim head scarf with the Christian nuns or mother of Jesus, but it all comes from the same thing. It's an act of devotion; it's an act of worship and it's about faith," said Dr. Saima Quresha of the AMCC.

The billboard will remain up until March 7.
