Authorities search for missing paddle boarder

Deputies with the Orange County Sheriff's Office on Thursday were using sonar, trying to find a missing paddle boarder off Lake Conway near Belle Isle.

It was around 6:30 p.m. when one neighbor off Cay Circle said she saw a man on a paddle board, moving extremely slow.  She says he fell off, but he never tried reaching for the oar.  She thought he might have gotten sick.

People on the shore of the lake heard the man yelling for help, and that when the neighbor called 911, while her husband got the keys to his boat and attempted to help him.

Rescuers said they tried searching for approximately two hours while they still had daylight.

"The caller stated they could see something in the water.  They said they could see something what looked like the head,  the person's head, and they could hear someone asking for help," said Orange County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief David Janssen. "At that point, we were dispatched arrived on scene and by the time we arrived we had no person that was to be found on the water."

Rescuers said the conditions out on the water are windy.  While there have been no reports of a missing person, fire fighters said they have to search, because so many witnesses saw someone go under the water
