Attempted carjacking suspect tased by police

CLERMONT, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - Occurring at a Clermont Publix, a shopper was attacked and almost carjacked. Thankfully, complete strangers came to the rescue and helped tracked down the suspect.

Police say that just after 11 a.m., a woman had gotten into her car and was about to close the door when a stranger attacked her and tried to steal the vehicle. 

Witness Leo Gimenez says that the victim tried fighting off the suspect by kicking him, but he threw her onto the ground. That's when she screamed for help and he took off running. Leo says that Cox ran into the woods and tried hiding in a pond. A firefighter on scene chased him down. 

Shortly after, cops caught the culprit. Leo says he saw them "tase him and take him down."
