Argument ends with gunfire, one dead and another fighting to survive

Two men were shot at a house in rural Orange County. The nearest neighbor, Ernesto Penaroque, who lives a quarter-mile down the road, said he had a bad feeling about this place.

“They didn't smell that good, to me,” Penaroque said.

He remembers seeing a lot going on here recently. “I've seen a lot of cars parked, lined up over there,” he said.

All the cars scattered before deputies arrived to find the two men bleeding on the driveway. Deputies say someone drove the two men there, and dropped them off. They walked into the house, there was an argument, and that's when they say the bullets started flying.

Deputies placed evidence markers on the ground where they fell. One man died in the hospital, the other was rushed to emergency surgery. Penaroque said he just wants an end to the trouble.

“I've been living here for 40 years and never had any kind of problem,” he said.

The sheriff's office is looking for Pedro Carralero in connection with the shooting. There's a $5,000 reward for helping find him. If you've seen him, call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
