80-year-old woman on bicycle killed by motorist
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - The Daytona Beach Police says that their motor units responded to a fatal crash Friday morning that left an 80-year-old woman dead.
Upon investigation, police say they learned that the 80-year-old, identified as Ruth Travers of Ormond Beach, was riding her bicycle northbound on Clyde Morris in the inside lane. At the same time, 28-year-old motorist Lucy Mullin of Daytona Beach was also heading north on Clyde Morris in a 2008 Mercedes Benz.
The report says that it was raining when the crash occurred and Mullins struck Travers, killing her instantly.
Police say that Mullins showed no signs of impairment. They say she did not see Travers on the road.
Police say there will be no criminal charges in this case.
