3 people shot, including 12-year-old victim

Daytona Beach Police say three men were shot at an apartment complex on Jean Street. One man was killed, a second man and a twelve-year-old boy, wounded.

A woman who says she's the boy's grandmother tells us it's a miracle he survived.

“I'm just thanking god that he was able to make it through this,” said the woman, who didn’t want to identify herself, “I want to send my thoughts and prayers out to the family members of the young man that lost his life, last night.”

At the scene, bullet holes were in the windows and police tape still hung from the railings. Cops say three men argued outside and one of them shot the other two, and the boy - who they say was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

“My grandson had nothing to do with this, he was an innocent bystander, just going home,” the woman said.

Police say one man died at the scene, the other was treated and released from the hospital. They say the boy was taken to Winnie Palmer Hospital in Orlando for treatment. The woman, who says she'd the 12 year old victim's grandmother, thinks this community has gotten entirely too violent.

“I think there needs to be more police presence around here. I think they need to put a subdivision of police out here in this apartment complex, and also curfews at night,” the woman said.

Police didn't release the names of any of the victims or the suspected shooter. They say this is still an active investigation.
