Detectives assigned to the Lake County Sheriff's Cyber Crimes Unit recently ended a week-long operation targeting subjects online attempting to meet kids for sexual activity.
The operation, dubbed Treasure Florida's Kids II, resulted in 14 arrests for various crimes.
Detectives posed online as a 13, 14, or 15-year-old child. All but one of the subjects traveled to the Golden Triangle area with the intent to have sex with whom they thought to be a child. Some brought alcohol and prophylactics.
They were taken into custody without incident.
One subject did not travel, but was later arrested at his home.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement and other member agencies of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force helped with the operation.
