-

Just after 6 a.m., someone at Denny's called the cops, saying a physical fight between two customers started inside and continued outside at the Denny's located on Town Center Boulevard in Clermont, Florida.

Sergent Fred Jones with the Lake County Sheriff's Office told Fox 35's David Williams that "Someone from inside said they heard gunshots. Went outside and the victim was on the ground."

Deputies said a man was shot and rushed to the hospital.

The shooter took off. All Deputies know is he's a short Hispanic male.

"Very rarely do you see an incident like this break out in a restaurant where people just loose their cool with one another," Jones explained. "So, they could've known each other."

Deputies are talking to witnesses and reviewing surveillance video to piece together what happened.

"How long had they been there? Had it been an hour?" Jones asked. "Did they come from a club? Was there alcohol involved?"

Jones said those area all things that are being investigated. If you know anything about the shooting, call the Lake County Sheriff's Office at (352)-343-2101 or (352)343-9500.
