11-year-old Titusville boy in custody after bringing knife to school, threatening staff member

An 11-year-old Titusville boy is in custody after police say he brought a knife to school and threatened a staff member.

Titusville police report that the unidentified boy has been charged with possession of a weapon on school property and aggravated assault.

Officers responded to the Fieldston Preparatory School at 2940 Columbia Blvd. Thursday morning after the boy allegedly made the threat against a staff member with a knife, according to press release.

"There were no injuries and a student is in custody," Amy Matthews, spokeswoman for the Titusville Police Department told Florida Today.

This incident comes as school across the state are mourning the 17 victims on the one year anniversary of the Majorie Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Fla.
