Deputies: Second woman turns herself in after leaving children behind while shoplifting

The second woman accused of leaving her children behind at a Publix in Kissimmee turned herself in Monday, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say Jessica Barker and another woman, Kristen Grodetz, loaded $500 worth of items into their shopping cart with the intention to steal late last month.

When security confronted the women, deputies say the two women grabbed one of the women’s 3-year-old and bolted from the store, leaving two 11-year-old girls behind.

The children are in state custody.

Both women are facing charges of grand theft, child neglect and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
