Yellow tape still surrounds the house on Killary Court, as Orange County Sheriff's deputies look for clues in the murder of 93-year-old Roman Krygier.
"It was the nicest house on the block," said neighbor Donna Foisey, who said things began to decline several months ago.
Investigators said Krygier was last seen by a friend on Monday. That friend became concerned after not hearing from Krygier for a couple of days and asked deputies to do a wellness check.
"He very nice," said neighbor Thanh Tran, who said she saw Krygier outside his home on Tuesday evening. "I saw him last Tuesday. He outside with the guy with the truck or van something, and after that, he go back, get some money and buy some ice cream."
Deputies said they went to the victim's home on Wednesday at around 9 a.m., where they discovered Krygier's body. According to investigators, the body had signs of decomposition. The Medical Examiner collected the body and on Thursday ruled the death a homicide.
Tran said, "I'm very scared and worried."
She said her neighbor often went out to dinner with his elderly wife each night. She and other neighbors wonder what happened to him.
"Anybody dies you feel bad." Foisey added. "It's just hard to believe in this neighborhood something bad would happen."
Anyone with information is asked to call the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
