Orange County Sheriff's Office Deputies said a 31-year-old woman said she and her 32-year-old husband heard a noise in their home while they were sleeping.
According to deputies, when they heard that noise inside their home on High Lake Drive, the husband took his semi automatic handgun walked into the kitchen area.
Deputies say he shot a 17-year-old boy who was standing in the house. After the shooting, deputies say the husband immediately recognized the boy as his younger brother.
The husband immediately started CPR while the wife called 911, said deputies.
Deputies said the Orange County Fire Department got to the home an took the boy to Florida South hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Deputies told Fox 35 this is a death investigation.
Saturday morning, Fox 35 spoke to a man who only identified himself as a family member. Off camera, he told Fox 35
"We are alright, given the circumstances."
He said funeral information for his family member is not yet set.
Saturday morning, Fox 35 saw several cars outside the home, along with a moving truck. Several people who showed up throughout the morning had very somber looks upon their faces.
Several neighbors Fox 35 spoke, but did not want to be interviewed, said they were shocked and saddened by news of the shooting.
The family reached out to Fox 35 through a spokesperson who said, "Our family is grieving and respectfully requests privacy at this time."
