Severe weather damages 55 homes in Ocala

National Weather Service officials will be out in Ocala Tuesday to determine if a tornado touched down in two neighborhoods impacted by severe weather.

On Monday, Marion County Fire Rescue officials say 55 homes in the Oak Run and Palm Cay subdivisions suffered damage from the wind and rain.

Residents experienced downed trees, debris and major damage to homes, but no one was injured.

Emergency management officials are helping residents place tarps on roofs and clearing roads.

Clean-up efforts will resume on Tuesday.
