Ocala fire leaves senior couple homeless

Three fire engines, two battalion chiefs, and additional emergency vehicles from Ocala Fire Rescue on Tuesday responded to a house fire reported at 2509 NE 19th Court. at 1:19 p.m.

With a smoke column clearly visible from blocks away, firefighters encountered a fully involved house fire upon arrival. Although firefighters managed to salvage the infrastructure of the home the fire encompassed the majority of its interior, deeming the living quarters inhabitable.

At the time the fire initiated the home was occupied by an elderly woman and her dog - both were able to exit the home unharmed; her husband arrived shortly after. The fire appears to have originated in the living room, yet the cause is still under investigation.
