DCF seeking to fill 10 positions

The Florida Department of Children and Families is hiring for Economic Self Sufficiency Specialist l throughout the Region.  DCF will be filling approximately 10 vacancies in each of these sites; Kissimmee, Lakeland, Ocala and Orlando. 

The employee will be responsible for processing applications (conducting interviews, answering the phone, and processing verification) from clients who have either applied or are receiving public assistance benefits including food stamps, Medicaid, and/or temporary cash assistance. The majority of the workday is spent gathering data from the client by phone, their online application, and various databases. This is a very challenging job in a fast paced work environment and requires the ability to multi-task and adapt.

The qualifications for the position are:

To qualify for the position, an applicant must have an associate's degree, or 60 credit hours or 90 quarter hours of college, or equivalent professional experience where the major responsibility was conducting interviews, recruiting, determining eligibility, conducting investigations, processing claims, billing or collecting accounts, checking credit, processing insurance policies or claims, or providing customer service (this does not include work as a sales clerk, cashier, or receptionist) on a full time basis. This experience can substitute on a year for year basis for the required education.

Applicants that meet the minimum employment qualifications for this position will be notified by email that they must complete a pre-employment assessment and a typing assessment in order to be considered for this position.  Failure to complete the pre-employment and typing assessments will result in the candidate being removed from consideration for employment for this position.

All staff will be hired at the base salary for this position, $1,020.79 bi-weekly ($12.76 per hour). If hired for this position, a minimum of 9 weeks will be spent in training, learning the rules and regulations that govern the public assistance programs. During training, you will be tested on the material that you are studying and must maintain an average score of 80 to continue employment.
