Police: 80-year-old woman thrown from vehicle in Melbourne carjacking

FOX 35 News at 5 p.m.

- An 80-year-old woman is recovering from minor injuries after being thrown from her car during a carjacking in Melbourne, according to police.

The victim, Nancy Deane, initially heard her car alarm going off around 1:15 a.m. when she pulled out of the driveway to try and turn off the interior car light. While backing out, a man and woman approached Deane and asked her to drive them to their house off of Grant Street.

Before Deane could respond the two suspects entered the car, police said.

When Deane pulled up to the house the female suspect exited the front passenger seat and the male hopped over the seat from the back and tried and grab the keys to the vehicle.

The 80-year-old woman refused to give up the keys, prompting the man to throw her out of the blue 2004 Lincoln Town Car, police said.

The female suspect then got back in the vehicle and the two were last seen driving south.

The alleged carjackers were described as a black woman with long hair and a black man with a “scruffy” beard and wearing dark clothing.

Anyone knowing the whereabouts of this vehicle or who has information pertaining to the suspects is asked to call the Melbourne Police Department at 321-608-6731.
