2 suspects arrested for carjacking, 2 armed robberies

A man and a woman who Osceola deputies said led them on a chase across central Florida in a car stolen from a man who thought he was meeting a prostitute have been arrested.

Joshua Luiz Alvarado, 22, and 26-year-old Jennifer Diaz both of Orlando were booked on charges that included carjacking and assault with a deadly weapon.

The 34-year-old victim said he was responding to an online prostitution advertisement to meet a woman at the Quality Inn on West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway in Kissimmee on Thursday afternoon, a spokeswoman from the Osceola County Sheriff's Office said.

Instead deputies said he was met by Diaz and Alvarado with a gun, who took his car.

The victim said Alvarado told him he was a law enforcement officer and showed him a fake badge.

Deputies responding to the carjacking saw the car with the suspects inside driving down Highway 192. They chased them into Orange County and stopped them at Hall Road and Aloma Avenue with the help of Orange County deputies.

This is not Diaz and Alvarado's first time enticing potential victims with prostitution ads, deputies said.

The Osceola County Sheriff's Office said they did the same thing Wednesday night at the same Quality Inn. When the victim got there, deputies said Alvarado hit him with a gun several times, then he and Diaz stole his cell phone and money before letting the victim leave.

The victim did not report that incident, deputies said.

Diaz and Alvarado were arrested and booked into the Osceola County Jail.
