Cat rescued after being tossed from truck on Howard Frankland

- The Florida Highway Patrol is crediting a good Samaritan who stopped after spotting a cat on the Howard Frankland Bridge.

Troopers said Claudette Zoll witnessed the kitten fly out of an older-model brown pickup truck that had a silver topper.

Zoll pulled over and called authorities. She said the cat was afraid and hid in the wheel well of her car before they were able to rescue it.

FHP said the Tampa Fire Department and Road Rangers also responded to help rescue the cat.

Troopers are investigating the incident. In the last three months, six cats have been found dead on the Howard Frankland Bridge. FHP has been investigating whether someone was dumping the cats on the bridge.

Anyone with information is asked to contact FHP.
