Authorities say a woman who was critically injured during a seven-vehicle crash in Altamonte Springs on Friday is improving.  A man and an infant were killed in the crash after investigators say an elderly driver struck a car that prompted a chain of wrecks at the intersection of State Road 436 and State Road 434.

The names of the victims have not been released, but a spokesperson with the Altamonte Springs Police Department tells FOX 35 that the deceased are the husband and son of the woman who remains at Orlando Regional Medical Center in stable condition.

Altamonte Police say that all seven cars involved in the incident were stopped at the intersection, when a green Mercury Grand Marquis struck the back of the car carrying the couple and their child.  The two cars were locked together when they slammed into several other vehicles at the intersection, including a semi-trailer truck.

Police have identified the driver of the Mercury Grand Marquis as a 75-year-old woman.  Witnesses told investigators that the driver of the Grand Marquis was moving quickly when she slammed into the first car.  The exact speed at which the woman was traveling is not known, but authorities say the posted speed limit at that location is 45 mph.  Police say the driver is cooperating with the investigation.

Three others were transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
