Winter Garden pizza shop owner speaks after former employee attacked him

- The owner of a pizzeria in Winter Garden is speaking out after being attacked by a former employee.

It happened at the Italian Garden Pizzeria on West Colonial Drive on Friday.

Kenny Elsherbeny, owner of the Italian Garden Pizzeria, says former employee Dave Moran came into work on Friday dazed and sluggish.

Elsherbeny says when he tried to send him home sick, Moran charged at him.

He says another employee called police and Moran took off.

Later in the day, Moran showed up at the pizza shop after calling, demanding his last paycheck.

When he showed up, Winter Garden Police were there waiting.

Officers say when they approached Moran, he drove straight into one officer, pinning him into a dumpster and breaking his leg.

Police say two other officers fired shots at Moran, hitting him.

Moran is being treated for gunshot wounds at the hospital.

The officer that was pinned against the dumpster broke his leg, but is expected to be OK.

Elsherbeny has a few bumps and bruises, but is thankful his loyal employees stepped in to help.
