ORLANDO, Fla (WOFL FOX 35) - Florida Highway Patrol says a driver passing by called 911 around 3:30 Friday morning after seeing water shoot up in the air about 30 to 40 feet high. The call initially came in as a broken fire hydrant.
However FHP says a driver slammed into a water meter for the DoubleTree Hotel off I-Drive.
The scene of the accident featured debris scattered everywhere and huge puddles of water on the street. It took Orange County utility crews about an hour to finally shut off the water main break. The 29-year-old female driver was cited for careless driving and not knowing she had a suspended license.
Troopers say she was not under the influence and was taken to the hospital for neck and back pain. Her name hasn't been released yet.
We also checked the DoubleTree Hotel does have water and no other hotel was affected.
