WINTER PARK, Fla (WOFL FOX 35)
Late Thursday afternoon, police entered a Winter Park home with their guns drawn. They came out with nothing and began searching the ground around the home for evidence, where two men were found dead the night before.
Alysa Hines and her husband have lived in this quiet Winter Park neighborhood for three years. Wednesay night was the first time they felt a little unsafe. "Me and my husband were inside eating dinner, watching TV, and we heard like four or five shots go off and we weren't really sure if it was guns so we just continued on with our night," she said. "Then shortly after, we heard a helicopter, so we just decided not to go out for the rest of the night."
The two men were fatally shot near Comstock and Capen avenues around 9:30 p.m. Officers found one person in a yard and another near the sidewalk. Bullet holes were marked on a truck and a car parked outside the home.
For most of the day, police remained at the scene, and even though the shooting happened several hours earlier, authorities are releasing few details about the case. When pressed for information, an officer at the scene said, "I can't provide any information about the identity of the individuals or the nature of the investigation at this time."
"It was pretty scary," said Hines. "It was not something you would expect to see in such a quiet little neighborhood."
Anyone with information is asked to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477).
