ORANGE COUNTY, Fla (WOFL FOX 35)
A tree came crashing down onto a Pine Hills home overnight with a family inside. According to authorities 6 people were inside the home on Hutton Drive when this occurred around 4 a.m. Wednesday morning.
At least one person was injured and taken to a nearby hospital where they're being treated for a possibly broken foot.
Severe weather likely contributed to a giant oak tree splitting at it's base and toppling onto the house. Orange County Fire and Rescue were called to scene around 4:15 a.m.
"I could hear people screaming and crying and I was just trying to make sure everybody was calm," said Joseph Pereira, who was inside the home when the tree crashed on top of his home with his family inside. "The stuff came in on my head, all the insulation from the ceiling. A two by four came down on me," Pereira explained.
Pereira says he's not sure if his sister's foot is broken or not, he's just relieved that everyone is okay. The Red Cross will be out to the home later today.
