FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Eight people were taken to the hospital after a multi-vehicle crash on I-95 in Flagler County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers say the accident shut down I-95 northbound near mile marker 282 Sunday afternoon.
In all, troopers say three vehicles were involved, two directly and a third hit by debris. Authorities say an SUV overturned in the crash with seven people inside.
Officials say four adults and four minors were in the SUV. They say multiple people were thrown out of the SUV and that injuries range from minor to critical.
According to a release, the right rear tire blew on the 1996 Ford Explorer, causing the driver to lose control. The Explorer veered right onto the east shoulder, overturned and ejected passengers. After striking several trees the vehicle finally came to rest.
Two of the people injured were airlifted to a hospital in Jacksonville and a third was taken by ambulance.
It's not yet clear what caused the crash.
