OCOEE, Fla. (FOX 35 ORLANDO) - An SUV plowed into the side of a convenience store Tuesday, trapping a worker inside.
A hero rescued two people.
The wall was sliced open, and cigarettes and snacks were strewn all over the floor after an SUV crashed into T’s Lotto and Food Mart in Ocoee.
Antonio Diaz recorded the terrifying moments on his cellphone right after it happened.
“We heard a loud noise like something exploded,” Diaz said.
Diaz was in the barber shop next door and immediately jumped into action.
“The owner was trapped behind the counter. We helped him out.” Then Diaz saw the driver.
“We immediately opened the door. We took him and we just pulled him out the driver’s side seat and turn off the engine, just in case the car would have blew up or something.”
Ocoee police say the driver suffered from a medical condition before crashing.
He and the food mart owner were both taken to the hospital for minor injuries, but are expected to be OK.
The food mart was shut down for the rest of the day.
The guys next door are relieved everyone made it out alive.
“We just wanted to help them. It was scary,” Diaz said.
There’s no word when the store will reopen.
