Suspects in cellphone store robberies arrested

- Orange County deputies say a string of cellphone store robberies finally ended at the Rosen Inn’s parking lot, Sunday afternoon, on International Drive.

Deputies swept the getaway car for evidence after arresting Bernard Henry and Shaelynn Safo-Agyeman.

Jeff Williamson, a spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff's Office, said the duo parked there after robbing an AT&T store on Orange Blossom Trail, making off with more than 30 cellphones and tablets.

“Once we got them, placed them under arrest,” Williamson said, “we were able to find all the devices that were robbed - stolen from the AT&T store - along with the firearm that was used in the robbery as well.”

Williamson said Henry robbed the store while Safo-Agyeman drove the car.

But, he said these arrests could also be the key to several armed robberies of cellphone stores across Central Florida.

“We believe two, three, maybe four cases where these individuals are the suspects in an armed robbery,” Williamson said.

Williamson said the most recent was a Metro PCS robbery last month.

He said the pair didn't resist arrest, but they were definitely a public threat and it's great to have them behind bars.

“The individual who robbed the store was certainly armed, and we believe he's robbed other stores,” Williamson said, “so anyone who's armed and up to nefarious intent is certainly dangerous as well.”

Deputies say the pair was interrogated before being booked into to the Orange County Jail.

Deputies weren't able to say why they parked here at the Rosen Inn after allegedly committing the crime.
