SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Journeys Academy principal Kenneth Bevan, Jr. appeared before a Seminole County judge Tuesday accused of Domestic Violence Battery. A Sheriff's Office arrest report shows that a deputy arrested Bevan just before 2:00 a.m. on July 4th.
The report accuses Bevan, Jr. of ripping the covers off his wife while she was in bed then grabbing her by the wrist and taking her cell phone out of her hand.
In court, Bevan, Jr. pleaded not guilty. The judge set his bond at $500 and ordered him to have no contact with his wife including at the house they share, at her work or any other means.
Bevan, Jr. was represented in court by his own father; attorney Kenneth Bevan, Sr. In an odd twist, the state prosecutor told the judge that the victim was requesting a restraining order against Bevan, Sr. and his wife.
The state said the woman does not want the grandparents to have contact with her or the couple's children. The judge refused to rule on that request, saying she would leave that for another court.
A Seminole County Schools spokesperson tells FOX 35 that Bevan, Jr., is now on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the district's investigation.
