The Seminole County man accused of murdering his own mother in their home is set to appear in court Wednesday.
Officials say 21-year-old Joshua Ortiz will appear before a judge for a pre-trial conference.
Back in July a judge ruled Ortiz is mentally competent to stand trial.
He's facing charges of second-degree murder.
Authorities say he strangled his mother Jacqueline Ortiz at their home in October 2014.
Officials say he then stole her car and drove to Maryland where he was later caught.
