A deadly crash shut down the I-95 southbound ramp which connects to I-4 westbound early Tuesday morning.
Officials say the crash happened around 12:30 a.m.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the 51 year old truck driver was either speeding or fell asleep behind the wheel when he lost control of the semi.
Troopers say by the time he realized it, troopers say he slammed on his brakes but it was too late, and went off the ramp and landed in a retention pond.
Investigators say the semi was carrying dried pasta and completely flipped upside down.
FHP says the driver from the Tampa area died a short time after at Halifax Health Medical Center.
Crews say at least 200-gallons of fuel spilled into the retention pond and will take hours to clean up.
