Semi-truck catches fire on I-95 Wednesday morning

- A semi-trailer truck caught fire on the interstate in Brevard County Wednesday morning causing delays during the morning commute.

According to Brevard County Fire Rescue all southbound lanes of I-95 in Viera were shut down for fire operations. Some lanes have been reopened, but BCFR said to expect delays until the entire scene can be cleared.

The incident occurred at mile marker 191 around 6 a.m. The truck was carrying non-hazardous cargo. An investigation is underway to determine what caused the fire. 

BCFR says the driver is okay with no injuries to report, but the truck is a total loss.
