Search for stolen car suspect in Seminole Co.

- The search for a car theft suspect in Sanford Sunday night led to the lock down of a nearby hospital.

Sanford police lined a stretch of State Road 17/92, and a helicopter searched from above.

Officers say they were trying to find a person who fled from deputies in Volusia County.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy located a stolen car in Orange City, but the driver headed south through DeBary into Seminole County.

Investigators say they put stop sticks down on the road, but the suspect ended up near Central Florida Regional Hospital.

Sanford police say the suspect bailed from the car, threw a gun into the woods and took off.

After searching from the ground and the air, officers ended the effort without locating the suspect.

Officials say Central Florida Regional Hospital was put on lockdown, but the suspect never got inside the hospital.

The lockdown was later lifted.

Police say they will keep working to identify the suspect and track him down.
