Sanford Police are investigating a deadly hit-and-run incident involving a bicyclist. Officers say it happened along Celery Avenue, between the hours of 1:30 and 2 a.m. on Friday morning.
The vehicle was traveling eastbound on Celery Ave. when the driver apparently hit someone riding their bicycle and then drove off. The victim, identified as 59-year-old Mark Hampton, died on scene.
"I feel like my whole life is over, because the man I love got killed," said a woman who asked not to be named but identified herself as Hampton's fiancée. "I loved him so much, and now he's gone forever, and he leaves behind a family who loved him too."
Police are looking for a light-colored Nissan Versa with damage to front passenger headlight and mirror. Anyone with information on this crash is asked to call Sanford Police Department.
