Rifle, handgun stolen out of locked Flagler County patrol car

A deputy's locked patrol car was broken into on Saturday night, according to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.

Officials say a patrol rifle and handgun were stolen out of the vehicle in the area of Beachway Drive in Palm Coast.

The sheriff's office says its patrol cars are equipped with firearm locks with built-in security features and a vehicle security system. An investigation is now underway to determine if any possible security system failures that may have occurred.
