ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - 52-year-old club promoter Orlando Torres said he was in the Pulse nightclub bathroom when he heard the shots. Torres and a friend decided to stay in the stall and hide from the shooter Omar Mateen.
Torres said they were balancing on a toilet trying to keep their feet from being seen when Mateen shot into their bathroom and they fell off onto the floor. From there, Torres said, he decided to play dead.
"I heard him walking to my side and I felt a poke to my right cheek," Torres explained. "I did not budge because I didn't know if he did that to see, if I'd be nervous."
Torres said the gunman even washed his hands after he shot some of the victims. "My life was flashing in front of me and it was so hard to believe we were still surviving and how many hours we were laying there from the beginning to the end," Torres said.
"From the beginning, when I heard the first shots , we were one of the last ones there. 3 hours, but I was very happy when the calvary showed up and did what they did. I owe my life to them for doing an extraordinary job."
