Police: Homeowner shot during home invasion

An early home invasion robbery left a homeowner in the hospital.
It happened before 4am in the 200 block of Reva Street in Daytona Beach.
Police said a man forced his way into the home and demanded money from the homeowner, 28 year old Derrell Robinson who was sleeping. When he didn’t comply police say the man shot Robinson and the bullet went through both legs. Police also found some bruises to the victim’s head.
The suspect took off before police arrived. The neighbor called 911 and Robinson was taken to the hospital where he is in stable condition.
According to the police report, Robinson told police he has been involved in the dealing of narcotics and has been shot in the past and this recent shooting may be why the unidentified suspect shot and robbed him but was not sure. He claimed that he was no longer involved in the drug trade.
Daytona Beach Police spent the morning collecting evidence from the victim’s home. Robinson told police he wants to press charges on the person who robbed him. No information was released on the suspect. This is an ongoing investigation.
