ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - A child was killed Thursday night in Orlando after being hit by a car. The incident occurred on Solandra Drive near Semoran and Colonial.
Orlando Police say a car was backing up from the driveway and hit a child. The little girl was pronounced dead at the scene. Neighbors say the girl was only 3-years-old.
Neighbors say they heard screaming around 8 p.m. Thursday night shortly after paramedics arrived. Police say Hector Rodriguez-Mejia, 32, was backing up a 2003 Dodge Ram and was unaware that 3-year-old Allison Rodriguez was behind the vehicle when the truck struck her. The child was later pronounced deceased on scene by OFD.
Several police officers blocked the entire area to interview witnesses and collect evidence. No word yet if any charges will be filed against the driver.
