Orlando police: Four transported to local hospitals after shooting

- An armed robbery left multiple people injured and a man behind bars. This came just hours after a peaceful rally to stop the violence. Roy Stephens is charged with multiple felonies, armed robbery, possession of a firearm by convicted felon, and 4 counts of attempted first degree murder.

Malikah Abdulaziz is the manager of this new restaurant in Parramore called “Pleasure Palate” and it sits right next door to the Tip-Top Grocery store, now known as S&W Foods on the 400 block of Parramore Avenue. However hours before the small convenience store was robbed, Malikah said residents had a community rally promoting unity and peace.

“We are not afraid, we are going to stand our ground regardless and business has to go on as usual,” said Abdulaziz.

Orlando Police said the alleged suspect, Stephens, barged into the store around 9pm Saturday, demanded cash, and then opened fire. Four people were shot; one of the victims is in critical condition.

“It’s very unfortunate and we send our prayers and condolences to the families,” said Abdulaziz.

Police said a K9 helped bring the suspect into custody. Malikah says she hasn’t seen issues at her business and has 24 hour security. Despite the armed robbery next door she’s hoping for a better future.

“We can’t live in the past.  We have to go forward in bringing up the community of Parramore,” she stated.

Roy Stephens was taken to Florida Hospital South for possible drug intoxication and observation.
