ORLANDO, Fla. - Airports are on high alert for what is expected to be the busiest Fourth of July travel weekend ever.
Security remains a concern following the recent terror attacks in Orlando and Turkey.
Orlando International Airport expects at 14.5% increase in passenger traffic this year from last.
The five day holiday travel period stretches from Friday, July 1 through Tuesday, July 5.
OIA anticipates the busiest day will be July 2 with a projected 136,000 passengers arriving and departing.
OIA expects over 600,000 people to pass through the airport during that five day travel period.
Many travelers are on high alert after the Istanbul airport attack.
While there have been no credible threats reported in the United States, travelers can expect more backups at security checkpoints.
Don’t expect any relief on the roads either.
AAA is reporting that this will be the busiest travel year in some time, due to lower gas prices.
