An Orange County home goes up in flames killing one person. A resident staying at the house told FOX35 at least 7 people were inside and his dog.
The fire started around midnight. When firefighters arrived, the house in the 1900 block of Rose Boulevard was 25-percent engulfed but crews said the fire spread quickly. Firefighters say it started at the front left hand side of the house. The flames and smoked even damaged a white pickup truck parked outside the front lawn. Four engines responded and two rescue trucks.
The medical examiner arrived around 1:45am to remove the body from the home. The resident inside the house did not want to show his face on camera but told us he rushed back inside to save his dog.
“I took 2 steps to the back door to get out and it reminded me that he’s (the dog) still back in my room so I turned all the way around from the door and went back and grabbed him and then ran out,” the unidentified resident told us.
It took fire crews about 20 minutes to put out the flames. The State Fire Marshal is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
