ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Florida Governor Rick Scott and Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs addressed the public Wednesday morning at a local business. Media and other business owners gathered at the Ragin Cajun Bike Shop on Orange Avenue in Orlando near the Pulse nightclub.
Both officials sympathized with how difficult the past week and a half has been for local businesses affected by the shooting with many of them closed during the ongoing investigation. Both Governor Scott and Orange County Mayor Jacobs encouraged the community to check out the local businesses and help them in any way possible.
"Buy a bike, buy a bagel, get your car windows tinted so businesses near Pulse can continue to employ people," Governor Scott said.
Governor Scott also expressed shock that the White House turned down his request for emergency funding that would have helped the small businesses in the area.
